The Hippodrome Show
Rubicon Studios were teamed up again with Bernard Allum of The Graphics Department to produce a title sequence for Thames TV’s variety show, recorded live from Peter Stringfellow’s top London nightspot, The Hippodrome.
Rubicon’s adventurous animation was combined with Bernard Allum’s night-time metropolis under a computer rostrum camera and further enhanced using Harry and ADO. The result is a 35 second extravaganza promoting the intoxicating style and sparkle of the show.
The title sequence was conceived by Bernard Allum and developed and animated by Ann Bubis and Gary Kerr of Rubicon Studio.
Miro Man
Pete Bishop of The Film Garage produced Miro Man as an animated artbreak for MTV Europe and the USA. Pete Bishop said, “The images are based on my sketchbook doodles. It is all old technology; film, pos cut, neg cut and print.”
The music is by Steve Lenie who also did Sanatogen. Chuck Gamage worked on Miro Man – he animated the Cadbury’s Cream Egg commercials, made at The Film Garage and directed by Marc Kitchen-Smith. Miro Man got into the D & AD Annual and also The Best of European Illustration.
